What Makes Our Cutterheads Different?

The majority of woodworkers know the advantages of shaving the wood verses cutting the wood. Shaving the wood is not only more efficient, but it avoids chipping and tearing of the wood. Sunhill Machinery offers a conversion kit to upgrade your jointer and planer. This cutterhead upgrade gives you the advantage of a shear cut and eliminates the tedious work of re-setting your blades. (Cutterheads not designed for rabbetting.)

The spiral and helical (Shelix®) cutterheads we offer share the same design concept. The Shelix® from Byrd Tool, utilizes 4-side carbide insert blades while the spiral cutterhead uses 3 single HSS blades which bend with the curve of the cutterhead to perform this continuous slicing action. This angled blade innovation ensures there is a sharp edge in constant contact with your material for optimum cutting performance.
There are different style cutterheads on the market, but none that provide this same shearing action nor the same quality finish on your figured woods. See diagrams below and click on the picture to see larger image.
